Mitolyn Review: Ingredients, Evidence, Side Effects and Price

We are an independent review site, not the maker of Mitolyn. Links to the vendor’s store are affiliate links: if you buy, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. It never changes our verdict.

Quick answer

Mitolyn is a one-capsule-a-day weight-loss support supplement with six botanical ingredients in a proprietary blend that hides every dose. We found no published trial of Mitolyn itself, and studies of its ingredients show weak or no effect on weight. It costs $79 to $294 with a 90-day refund through ClickBank. Our score: 3.7 out of 10.

3.7

Our verdict on Mitolyn

Hard to recommend: weak evidence and undisclosed doses

What we liked

  • 90-day money-back guarantee through ClickBank
  • One capsule a day
  • Ingredients are common food and botanical extracts

Watch out for

  • No doses disclosed: a proprietary blend with no Supplement Facts panel
  • No published trial of Mitolyn itself
  • Weight-loss evidence for the ingredients is weak or negative
  • Contains cacao, a natural source of caffeine and theobromine, despite a no-stimulants claim

We score Mitolyn 3.7 out of 10. The number comes from the five weighted criteria in how we review supplements, applied to what we could verify on October 2, 2026. Most points were lost on evidence and label transparency: the seller publishes no doses and no trial of the finished product.

What is Mitolyn?

Mitolyn is a once-a-day capsule that its seller markets for weight loss support. The vendor describes it as "a unique proprietary blend of 6 science-backed, rare ingredients" and builds its pitch around mitochondria, the parts of cells that turn food into usable energy.[1]

The sales page is a long video page titled "US Scientist: This Purple Peel Exploit Vaporizes Fat Cells". The scientist is never named, and the vendor's own terms say that "Andrew Lambert" and other names on the site are pen names.[1][5]

We found no clinical paper, regulator page or independent lab report about Mitolyn as a finished product, so "the vendor says" in this review marks a claim we could not confirm.

Who might consider Mitolyn, and who should not take it?

Mitolyn only makes sense for a healthy adult who has already talked with a clinician, accepts that the product is unproven, and is comfortable relying on the refund window if it does nothing. It is a poor fit for anyone pregnant, nursing, on certain medicines, or dealing with unexplained weight change.

Skip it, or get medical advice first, if any of these apply:

  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding. MedlinePlus says pregnant or nursing women "should never take diet medicines", including herbal remedies.[14]
  • You take blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs, or have surgery coming up. In a small study, amla prolonged bleeding and clotting time, alone and with clopidogrel or aspirin.[27]
  • You take losartan, which NCCIH lists as a reported rhodiola interaction.[12]
  • You are a transplant patient on tacrolimus. A product made from a related schisandra species raised tacrolimus blood levels across 11 studies.[32]
  • You are sensitive to caffeine, since cacao naturally contains caffeine and theobromine.[30]
  • You take diabetes medicine. Maqui berry has been studied for lowering blood sugar after meals, so ask your prescriber first.[18]

Unexplained weight gain or constant tiredness can have medical causes. A supplement is not a substitute for getting those checked.

How does Mitolyn claim to work?

The vendor claims Mitolyn works through "calorie-burning mitochondria", the energy-producing parts of cells, so the body burns more fat. Each of the six ingredients carries the same bullet on the sales page: "Promotes mitochondria".[1] No published study of the product tests that idea in people.

The FAQ says the formula is "designed to rapidly liquify fat in even the worst cases" and will "get to work dissolving fat for you even when sleeping". Another line says losing weight "has never been easier."[1]

Federal guidance treats this style of claim with suspicion. The NIH Office of Dietary Supplements tells readers to be "very cautious" of supplements promising a "magic diet pill" or weight loss "without diet or exercise".[10] The FTC lists losing two pounds or more a week for a month or more without dieting or exercise among claims that "simply can't be true".[16]

The vendor's mechanism rests on cell and animal research. We walk through it step by step in How does Mitolyn work?

What is in Mitolyn?

Mitolyn lists six ingredients: maqui berry, rhodiola, Haematococcus pluvialis (an algae that supplies astaxanthin), amla, Theobroma cacao and schisandra. The amount of each is not disclosed, and no other ingredients, capsule material, extract ratios or standardization levels are listed.[1]

Every study below tested one ingredient alone, at a known dose, so nobody can say whether a capsule contains anything close to what was studied. Our grades describe the human evidence for weight or body fat, not the product.

IngredientVendor's descriptionAmount per capsuleHuman weight evidenceGrade

Theobroma cacao"tropical superfood" with epicatechinNot disclosedTwo meta-analyses: no effect on weight[28][29]Weak
Schisandra"calorie-burning red berries"Not disclosed12-week placebo trial in 28 women: no significant change[31]Weak
Maqui berry, one of six ingredients listed for Mitolyn

Maqui berry

A purple Chilean berry rich in anthocyanins. A 2026 review of 12 human trials rated its longer-term effects on heart and metabolic markers "modest and inconsistent", with certainty "moderate to very low".[18] Short trials reported it was well tolerated.[35]

Evidence: Weak
Rhodiola root, one of six ingredients listed for Mitolyn

Rhodiola

A root sold as an adaptogen. NCCIH says there isn't enough reliable evidence to know whether it helps with any health purpose, and calls it "possibly safe for up to 12 weeks".[12] A review of 11 trials called the research "contradictory".[20] In a 42-day trial in 48 nursing students, placebo did better on fatigue.[21]

Evidence: Weak
Haematococcus pluvialis algae, the astaxanthin source listed for Mitolyn

Haematococcus (astaxanthin)

A red pigment from Haematococcus pluvialis algae. A review of 87 human studies found no safety concerns with natural astaxanthin.[24] A 2020 meta-analysis of 14 trials found HDL cholesterol rose by 1.473 mg/dL, with no effect on weight.[23]

Evidence: Weak
Amla fruit, also called Indian gooseberry, listed in Mitolyn

Amla

Indian gooseberry. Four trials with 227 people found LDL cholesterol fell by 25.12 mg/dL over 12 weeks, with only mild side effects.[26] It also showed antiplatelet activity in a 10-person study, which matters for anyone on blood thinners.[27]

Evidence: Limited
Cacao pods and beans, Theobroma cacao, listed in Mitolyn

Theobroma cacao

The source of cocoa and chocolate. Across 31 trials with 1,986 people, cocoa did not change weight, BMI or waist size, though systolic blood pressure fell by 2.52 mmHg.[29] Cacao naturally contains caffeine and theobromine.[30]

Evidence: Weak
Schisandra berries, one of six ingredients listed for Mitolyn

Schisandra

A red berry the vendor calls "calorie-burning". The only human obesity trial we found, 28 women over 12 weeks, showed no significant change compared with placebo.[31] A related species raised tacrolimus levels in transplant studies.[32]

Evidence: Weak

For studied doses, plant parts and the full study list, read What are the Mitolyn ingredients?

What does the evidence actually support?

The evidence supports a plausible lab story and little else. Some ingredients affect mitochondria in cells and animals, human trials of the same ingredients mostly show no weight change, and we found no published trial of Mitolyn itself as of October 2, 2026.

We checked all 12 references on the vendor's sales page in PubMed. None tests the Mitolyn formula, and none is a controlled human weight-loss trial. Only one involves people: five patients with type 2 diabetes and heart failure who ate dark chocolate and drank a cocoa beverage for three months, with no control group. It measured muscle mitochondria markers, not weight.[1][33]

Level of evidenceWhat we foundWhat it tells you
Cell and animal studies11 of the vendor's 12 references are cell work, rodent work or reviews of that work[1]A mechanism is possible. It is not proof of an effect in people
Human trials of single ingredientsNo weight effect for astaxanthin, cacao, schisandra or maqui; one small open-label amla trial[22][28][31][19][25]The ingredients have not been shown to cause weight loss in people
Trial of Mitolyn itselfNone foundNo direct evidence that the product works

In a cocoa meta-analysis of 35 trials, body weight changed by 0.108 kg, a difference that was not statistically significant.[28] For astaxanthin, the best studied of the six, a 2025 meta-analysis concluded it "does not provide benefits in BMI regulation nor in weight control management".[22]

That gap is common. The NIH Office of Dietary Supplements notes that makers of weight-loss supplements "rarely carry out studies in people" to find out whether a product works and is safe.[10] The FTC says health claims generally need randomized, controlled human testing.[17] The trial-by-trial detail is in Does Mitolyn work?

What can't Mitolyn be expected to do?

Based on the evidence we found, Mitolyn cannot be expected to produce a predictable amount of weight loss, replace changes to eating and activity, or act as a medicine for any condition. No published data shows how much weight, if any, a typical buyer loses.

The vendor's own terms concede the point on testimonials. They say the results featured on the site "are exceptional results, do not reflect the typical purchaser's experience" and that actors may re-enact customer stories.[5]

  • It is not a medicine for obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol or any other condition.
  • There is no evidence it keeps weight off after you stop. The FTC lists permanent weight loss after stopping a product among claims that cannot be true.[16]
  • It cannot make weight loss effortless. The FTC's consumer advice says "any promise of miraculous weight loss is simply untrue."[15]
  • "Natural" does not mean safe, as NCCIH puts it.[13]

How long would it take to see any effect from Mitolyn?

Nobody knows, because Mitolyn has never been tested in a published trial. The closest guide is how long the ingredient studies ran, which was usually 4 to 12 weeks, and most of them found no weight change in that time.

The maqui trial lasted 4 weeks.[19] The rhodiola fatigue trial ran 42 days.[21] The schisandra trial and the amla cholesterol trials ran 12 weeks.[31][26] In the 2020 astaxanthin analysis, an inflammation marker fell only in trials of 12 weeks or more.[23]

The vendor advises using Mitolyn for "at least 2 months" before asking for a refund, and the window closes 90 days after the order.[4] If you try it, set a reminder well before day 90.

Does Mitolyn have side effects, and who should ask a doctor first?

No side-effect data exists for Mitolyn itself, so the risks have to be read from its ingredients, at unknown doses. Reported problems are mostly mild, but several ingredients interact with medicines, so anyone on prescription drugs should ask a doctor or pharmacist first.

IngredientReported side effects or cautionsWho should be careful
RhodiolaDizziness, headache, insomnia, dry mouth or excess saliva; possibly safe for up to 12 weeks[12]People taking losartan[12]
AmlaMild effects such as indigestion in trials[26]; antiplatelet activity[27]People on blood thinners or aspirin, or before surgery
Theobroma cacaoContains caffeine and theobromine[30]Caffeine-sensitive people, pregnancy
SchisandraA related species raised tacrolimus levels[32]Transplant patients
Maqui berryWell tolerated in short trials[35]; studied for blood sugar[18]People on diabetes medicine
AstaxanthinNo safety concerns across 87 human studies of natural astaxanthin[24]Unknown, since the dose in Mitolyn is not stated

The vendor's feature row says "No Stimulants".[1] Cacao naturally contains caffeine and theobromine, and the amount in a capsule is not disclosed.[30]

Stop taking it and call your doctor if you notice unusual bruising or bleeding, sleep problems that do not settle, or any new symptom that worries you. Get emergency care for a severe reaction.

What do Mitolyn customer reviews and complaints show?

The independent signals we could read are poor. Mitolyn's unclaimed Trustpilot page scored 1.4 out of 5 from 42 reviews in an archived June 2025 copy, and both Mitolyn profiles on the Better Business Bureau carry an F rating.[9][8]

On Trustpilot, 93% of those 42 reviews were 1-star. One reviewer said their weight went up by 4.6 kg over eight weeks of use; another reported no effect after four of six bottles.[9] These are individual accounts, not data.

BBB lists two Mitolyn profiles, one in Boise, Idaho, at ClickBank's address and one in McHenry, Illinois. Neither is accredited. We could not open the complaint pages, so we do not know the complaint count or the reasons behind the ratings.[8]

Treat the vendor's own numbers with caution. The sales page shows "39,208 reviews", while the three checkout pages show 36,015, 34,182 and 39,973 reviews with scores from 9.3 to 9.5. No source is named for any of them.[1][2] Our full breakdown is in What do Mitolyn reviews and complaints say?

How much does Mitolyn cost?

Mitolyn costs $79 for one bottle, $177 for three and $294 for six on the vendor's checkout, checked October 2, 2026. That works out to $79, $59 or $49 a bottle, and each bottle is a 30-day supply.[2][1]

The vendor also shows a $197 per-bottle reference price and coupon banners of 60% to 75% off. That reference price is the vendor's own, and we have not seen it charged.[2] Six bottles has the lowest cost per bottle, but it means paying $294 up front for six months of an untested product, while the refund window covers 90 days.

What is the Mitolyn refund policy?

The vendor offers a 90-day money-back guarantee from the order date, processed by ClickBank, the retailer. Refunds go back to the original payment method and may take 5 to 10 business days to show.[4][7] ClickBank's own default window is 60 days; Mitolyn's checkout states 90.[7][2]

Two vendor pages disagree about bottles. The refunds page says you "do not need to return any bottles", while the sales page FAQ says to "return all bottles (even if empty)".[4][1] Ask in writing which rule applies before you ship anything. Return shipping costs are not refunded.[4]

The vendor lists 1-800-390-6035 (US), +1-208-345-4245 (international), [email protected], and an order lookup at clkbank.com.[6] Steps and timing are in How much is Mitolyn, and how does the refund work?

Where should you buy Mitolyn?

If you buy, use the vendor's checkout. The order links on mitolyn.com lead to ClickBank, and the 90-day guarantee we read is written for those orders.[1][4]

We did not verify listings on Amazon, Walmart or other marketplaces for this review. A third-party listing could be a reseller, and the refund terms we read describe ClickBank orders, so a marketplace purchase may fall outside them.

Before you pay, check that the address bar shows mitolyn.com or a ClickBank checkout, since review pages like this one are not the seller. On your card statement, a vendor order shows as CLKBANK*MITOLYN.[2] Keep the order number for any refund request. Our comparison of buying routes is in Where can you buy Mitolyn?

Is Mitolyn legit or a scam?

Mitolyn is a real product sold through a real retailer, ClickBank, with a published 90-day refund route and listed contacts. But its marketing raises serious transparency concerns. Being a legitimate transaction is a much lower bar than being an effective product.

  • The "scientist" story uses pen names, according to the vendor's terms.[5]
  • No manufacturer, address or facility is named. The vendor says Mitolyn is made in an "FDA registered and GMP certified facility" with "third-party inspections", but names no facility, certifier or lab.[1]
  • The sales video hides the price for about 34.5 minutes, the 30-minute countdown runs in your browser, and the "VERIFIED" buyer pop-ups are generated from a hard-coded list of names and states.[1]
  • Mitolyn did not appear on the FDA's tainted weight-loss products list in the May 2025 archived copy we read.[34]

Supplements do not need FDA review or approval before they are sold, so "FDA registered" is not an endorsement of the product.[10] The full check is in Is Mitolyn legit?

How does Mitolyn compare with other weight-loss approaches?

Next to changes in eating and activity, or a medical review with a clinician, Mitolyn is the least studied option and the only one sold with its doses hidden. The NIH Office of Dietary Supplements says "there's little scientific evidence that weight-loss supplements work."[10]

Supplements are still popular: about 15% of US adults have used one for weight loss, according to the same office.[11] Here is how the main approaches compare, in general terms:

ApproachStrengthLimitation
Changing what and how much you eatCan be tailored to your budget, tastes and healthTakes sustained effort and often works better with support
Moving moreFits into daily life and helps more than weightNeeds time and a routine you can keep
Medical review with a clinicianCan check for underlying causes and discuss prescription options where suitable[14]Needs an appointment, and medicines have their own side effects
MitolynOne capsule a day, 90-day refundNo product trial, no disclosed doses, weak or null ingredient evidence

NCCIH adds that most supplements marketed for rapid weight loss "don't work for keeping weight off in the long term, and some are dangerous."[13] For broader, evidence-led advice, see our weight loss guides.

How do you take Mitolyn?

The vendor's directions are one capsule a day: "Take one capsule of Mitolyn with a big glass of cold water every day." One bottle holds 30 capsules, a 30-day supply.[1]

The site gives no guidance on time of day, food or a maximum dose, and publishes no Supplement Facts panel to check against. Do not take more than the directions say. If you are sensitive to caffeine, count the cacao alongside coffee, tea and other caffeinated products. If you take any medicine, show the bottle to your pharmacist before your first dose.

How did we review Mitolyn?

We reviewed Mitolyn from public records on October 2, 2026. We read the vendor's sales, refund, shipping, support and terms pages, and its ClickBank checkout for one, three and six bottles at US prices.[1][2][3][4][5][6]

We looked up all 12 references on the sales page in PubMed, searched for human trials of each ingredient, and read guidance from the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements, NCCIH, MedlinePlus, the FDA and the FTC. We read the BBB search results and an archived Trustpilot page, because the live pages blocked our requests.[8][9]

We did not buy a bottle, so we have not seen a physical label. The seller did not supply product or pay for this review. The score follows the published weights in how we review supplements.

Links to the vendor's checkout are affiliate links: if you buy, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. The commission does not change the score. This page is general information, not medical advice. Mitolyn is a product name belonging to its seller; Health Forge Daily is independent and not connected to the seller.

What is our final verdict on Mitolyn?

Mitolyn is hard to recommend. It is easy to take and comes with a 90-day refund through ClickBank, but it hides every dose, has no published trial, and its ingredients have mostly failed to change weight in human studies.[1][22][28][31]

If you still want to try it, start small, keep your order number, ask in writing about the bottle-return rule, and talk with your doctor first if you take any medicine. Our score: 3.7 out of 10.

Frequently asked questions

Does the FDA review Mitolyn before it is sold?

No. Dietary supplements do not need FDA review or approval before they reach the market. The vendor says Mitolyn is made in an FDA-registered, GMP-certified facility, but it names neither the facility nor the certifier, and registration is not an approval.

Does Mitolyn really work for weight loss?

We found no published trial of Mitolyn itself. Human trials of its ingredients mostly found no change in weight, including two astaxanthin meta-analyses, two cocoa meta-analyses and a schisandra placebo trial. Any effect a buyer notices cannot be credited to the product.

How much does Mitolyn cost?

On October 2, 2026, the vendor checkout listed $79 for one bottle plus $9.95 US shipping, $177 for three plus $9.95, and $294 for six with free US shipping. Prices can change, so check the total before you pay.

Does Mitolyn have a money-back guarantee?

Yes. The vendor offers 90 days from the order date, handled by ClickBank. Its refunds page says no bottles need to be returned, but its sales page FAQ says to return all bottles, so confirm the rule in writing. Return shipping is not refunded.

Is Mitolyn a subscription?

The vendor FAQ says each order is a one-time payment with no auto-ship or subscription, and the checkout we saw showed a single charge. We could not view any post-purchase upsell pages without buying, so read each screen carefully.

Does Mitolyn contain caffeine?

Mitolyn lists Theobroma cacao, which naturally contains caffeine and theobromine. The amount per capsule is not disclosed, so the caffeine content is unknown, even though the sales page lists No Stimulants among its features.

Can I take Mitolyn with medication?

Ask your doctor or pharmacist first. Rhodiola has a reported interaction with losartan, amla showed antiplatelet effects alongside aspirin and clopidogrel, and a related schisandra product raised tacrolimus levels. Mitolyn does not disclose its doses.

Is Mitolyn safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

MedlinePlus says pregnant or nursing women should never take diet medicines, including herbal and over-the-counter remedies. Mitolyn is marketed for weight loss support and contains cacao, so it is not a fit during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Who makes Mitolyn?

The vendor pages we read name no manufacturer, company or address. The vendor terms say names used on the site, including Andrew Lambert, are pen names. ClickBank is the retailer that processes orders and refunds.

How do I contact Mitolyn for a refund?

The vendor lists 1-800-390-6035 in the US, +1-208-345-4245 internationally, and [email protected]. You can also look up a ClickBank order at clkbank.com. Requests must be made within 90 days of the order date.
